video won't play
 

hi all, i'm new to this network and enjoying it alot. There is an issue about some file i download, the player wont play the video file (mpg or mpeg) and it won't start either. I'm using the latest version on limewire 4.12.11 free and the time on the video shows something like this: :00/:23:13:52:58 instead of the regular 0:00/ 5:26 or what ever the file length is, can someone help me play these files?

or sometimes the file just as an add line camwarp.com but the file is like 4,980 Ko can i still view the video somehow?

You haven't even told us what player you're using:wasntme:

Try VLC player. It's a free download, has codecs installed & will play most things. If VLC won't play it, perhaps the file is just stuffed. If you're just seeing an ad in the file...it's probably useless spam.

Check video files with Bitzi before download & also preview the file as it's downloading (after about 10%).

thanks for your reply birdy, i did download vlc, and still no video, just the add, like you said i think its only a spam but i was wondering if someone as the original video file i could maybe copy the file from, i think these files where deleted from limewire mods, because of legal issues, maybe there still available somewhere... :bangh:

You're downloading from other users. Files that are being shared by Gnutella users (on their computers) are what you'll see in your search results.

If the video you're trying to download is a new release, or really popular, chances are that a lot of files being shared are spam/fakes. If the video's still in the cinema & hasn't been released on DVD yet...at best you'll get a shitty cam version. And if it's a very rare file, it might take a long time to find a good source.
