Monitor uploads questions

I have been perusing my Monitor>Uploads screen in hopes of better understanding what my file requests do. I have a couple of questions, even though I read any files I could find on them.

Same host asking for the same file multiple times, queues according to the number of upload slots I allow per person.
Ok... how are they asking for multiple slots for the same file, how are they getting them, is this only for LimeWirePro users and are they trying to get faster downloads? Does this have any bearing on what I have read about LW automatically banning users? (how long does this ban last and what does the ban do?) I often see "upload limit reached" and I guess I thought that perhaps they had been interrupted the number of times I 'allow upload slot per person". Does that have any bearing on it?

It kinda annoys me to see the same person trying to monopolize all my slots for a popular, hard to find file and this is the first time I had seen it. Does the number of files one person can ask for from one source also have bearing on this... per day or forever?

I am so confused! I really did read everything I could find about this first, but it just didn't let me truly understand it!

Thanks in advance for the good advice I know I will receive!

AFAIK, a given user can only occupy one slot for a given file. Whenever I see the same users IP for the same file multiple times, only one listing is currently uploading. Pro users can connect to more ultrapeers, so they may get better results with more hosts, but they can't download a given file faster that has only one host.

Not sure what you're referring to...

Correct :)

AFAIK, the only limit that exists is how many files they can download from you at one time. There are no 'per day' or 'lifetime' limits.

Good Luck

I actually had, at this particular time, the same IP queued for the same file 7 times, all active, so for the heck of it, I changed my max. # to 3 or 4 and immediately it cut down to that same number of active queues. Soon thereafter the same IP popped up for the same file again, but with "upload limit reached", which is what I see often after I see the same IP getting transfers interrupted. I had never seen so many queues with the same IP for same file before, though I have seen upload limit reached many times.

The reason I am trying to figure all this out is so I can see why I am having such a hard time getting a couple of files. That is also why I asked if these upload limits reached pertains to a 24 hour period or forever or WHAT! Plus, I tend to get a little overzealous about figuring things out! :rolleyes_2:

Actually, I have seen IPs, after transfers interrupted the number of slots per person I allow, getting the upload limit reached message, even though they either havent gotten any of the file or the whole file yet. I am wondering if this is part of my problem in completing some of my downloads.

Thanks for your help, so much, Muhctekdano!

Would love to hear any other views about this, too. Thanks:xeri_ok1ani:

Leggedy.
Hi man do you have your (automaticly clear completed uploads) unticked ?
Cos this will make some transfer interupteds, not able to re connect and continue.
If you tick the box in Tools/options/uploads/basic, just tick the box and watch your UP's, you will see as a file becomes (transfer interupted) it will
go from your screen instantly, then it will re connect the same file at the same point of the upload. When the box is unticked, some people will just
start another download, Hence you have several requests from same user
I no what your gonna say, (I like to no whats being uploaded)AND ME.
If you want to no whats uploaded, just go to Library an click on upload bar
two times, completed UP's will be listed 00/00 Left of slash, completed, right
side of slash, attempted UP's. Only untick box if your sitting watching moniter
then you can respond imediatly if a transfer becomes interupted, and (clear
inactive) Is that any help my friend. you sound like a Virgo to me
Peace.
