wondering why February 21st, 2007 03:04 AM

AFAIK you cant resize them....But see the little black arrows near the globe you can resize your search and download screen by adjusting them...:rolleyes_2:

Lord of the Rings February 21st, 2007 07:27 AM

YOu can also resize the entire interface by dragging the bottom right corner up/down or/& left/right. The icons you're refering to are vital functions of LW & thus should be clearly visible to all uses. I notice you have the main window set to single window view. If you set it back to double window view, you can resize those windows using the arrows.

im sure there not vital at all ive never used any one of them so you cant remove them? and i want to remove the bar so its easier to see the downloads i know how to resize the downloads

milkman6453 February 21st, 2007 12:02 PM

k becuase i dont share.....you wont help hmmm thanks and how do you know what i share?

samantha81 February 21st, 2007 12:04 PM

to grandpa,

totally unrelated topic but i was wondering does the amount of files i share effect the downloads i make, mines on 74 at the moment. And i've noticed alot of people mention about the remaining space ( i know they use another word just cant think what it is) that they have left on there computer. I know this sounds daft but how do you find out how much space you have left, i've tried looking but i cant find out??
thanks
samantha.

samantha81 February 21st, 2007 12:07 PM

big green dot at the end of the screen with (well suppose to have) numbers in it!!! thats how he knew you dont share files, cause it's on 0!!!
( so chuffed with myself i actually knew an answer to a question)

No it does not matter how many files you share it will make no difference in your search results or DL speed. What it does do though is make it easier and faster for others to get the files. The more sources the greater the availability for sources and bandwidth. The files on the Gnutella net are not stored on server computers they are saved and shared from individual's computers like your's and mine.

Unlike milkman6453 who just takes and does not return. He is what is know as a (LEACH)he takes but gives nothing in return. :yikes: :nono: And he is a pretty ballsy leach who wants other to help him and if they don't he gets pissy about it.:shoot: As far as I am concerned and probably most of the people that share are concerned on the Gnutella net he can try and figure it out for himself. :laugh_2: Good Luck

Sorry Grandpa but I would correct you there. :o :p Certainly from my & many others experience we have found sharing actually helps. Being connected to other people who are connected to different peers who themselves are connected to more peers & ultrapeers, actually helps obtain better results. As you are aware a person's search only reaches a % of the entire network. But by being indirectly connected to others improves searches or accessibility to other files. I find that if I share a particlar type of file, then I find it much easier to find similar ones compared to if I wasn't sharing that type of file. I've known other experienced users who have had the same experience.

milkman6453 cars don't really need steering wheels. You can just push them toward the direction you want .. perhaps lean on one side to give it that directional push. But some people actually enjoy having steering wheels in their cars. Before shortcuts were introduced, those buttons are all that we had. Some people be it youngsters from 10 years old or 90 years old like to use the buttons. You're free to design your own version of LW without those buttons for your own personal use. :)

If everyone who used Gnutella network did not share like milkman6453 then there'd be no files to download from the network. lol :D It would be a big ZERO!!!

Grandpa February 21st, 2007 11:27 PM

Thanks for correcting me there LOTR :wasntme: :D I have never ran LimeWire (or any other P2P app) without sharing and made an assumption :o from what others have said in the past. What you said does make sense. Its good to know there are so consequences to being a LEACH :cheers3:

milkman6453 February 22nd, 2007 04:24 AM

well everyone can cry more about not sharing or you can stay on topic and help....

Lord of the Rings February 22nd, 2007 04:54 AM
