Default You've got to be kidding?

Latest upgrade to 4.12.11 has this absolutely horid orange bar across the top about getting updates. I realize there are stupid people en mass everywhere, but really!

Bury it if you must, but put something in the options screen to turn it off...(please?!)

It was such an annoyance and eye-sore, I reinstalled my older Pro version just to get rid of it.

Anyone running Lime already has internet connection, they can already update directly from limewire.com. I'd suspect most of those 'problems' are from people who's Pro license has expired and they're trying to get a free/pirated update, people who've never paid for a Pro version and are trying to get a Pro version via p2p, etc. For the remaining moron's, anyone that would get a lime version or update via p2p, a flashing neon sign is not going to help them much.

Please consider getting rid of it, or at least fix it where we can turn it off.

Thanks

Yep--it's annoying at first. See http://www.limewire.org/forum/showpo...&postcount=101 for the explanation

Possibly but it's also a public service to warn people that if they come across a file that says URGENT LIMEWIRE SECURITY PATCH or somesuch... it's probably a virus.

I've long thought that there should be some official way from LW to communicate to users for security reasons and to fight P2P spammers. I also think that given the amount of people out there who don't know how to configure their files and end up sharing everything, they need some occasional reminders to doublecheck.
