Annoying Problem

Hey everyone,

When I first got limewire I found it to be a lot friendlier than the free versions of Kazaa and about half a dozen others I've tried. So, after a while of testing it out I paid for the PRO version because I was told that I would get more search results and more accurate search results. Well, about 4 or 5 months ago I started getting a lot of ridiculous results. I would search for a ****** movie but I would get hundreds of porn searches popping up. Then when I try to search for songs I get dozens of ringtones popping up right on top and flooding the search results area. As if that wasn't bad enough now I get a lot of downloads that I can't delete. I downloaded *** *** * ********...waited about 2 days for all 700MB of it and as soon as it was done it moved to my Downloads folder and I noticed that I couldn't open and I can't even delete the damn thing. On top of that I'm also getting a lot of results that take me to a website when I try to click on the download. What is Limewire doing to help its paying customers from having to deal with all of this?

Now I know I sound negative but I've been using Limewire for the last 4 years and I'm starting to get frustrated with some of its flaws. I had a horrible experience finally finding something descent the last time I stopped using a filesharing program (Kazaa) and started looking for something new.

Let me know if I'm the only one out there having these problems or if you guys know what I can do to fix things...

Thanks,
Andy

All those files you talk about are planted there by spammers and hackers and the companies that want to screw up your computer for downloading their stuff....
You need to familiarise yourself with file sizes and fake files...
These threads have some great info on that stuff...
Fake files in search results
WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!

Limewire is just the software that connects you to millions of computers all over the world, it does not connect you to a server and therefore it cannot control what people share.....

Hi HappyAndy, Concerning the files you can't delete, try to delete them from your library on your LW interface. Click Library, right click the file and then delete. I,m assuming you share your files. Also, try to use the filter in Options to stop junk files from coming over. Click Tools then Options then filter then Keyword.Type in keywords like ringtone, then click Add then apply then OK. This should do the trick. Please let me know.
