Would i get in any kind of trouble if i downloaded music or movies from limewire? Besides that, why is that ilegal, i thought that it was ok as long as it wasnt done to make profit out of it or changing it, also, its not like im making copies of it.

Also, hypotetically :wasntme: , lets say i dowloaded teen porn, not child, by teen i mean girls between 16-17, would i have problems if i did that even though im under 18? :cool:

My analogy may have missed the mark, but what I meant was that if it's illegal for one it's illegal for all. The law doesn't care if your under 18 or not. Child pronography is illegal because it victimizes children(amoung others). Most of them are forced to do things that no child(or adult) should be made to do.

By seeking out that type of material you are adding to the problem by helping create the demand for it and spreading it across the internet. That's a crime reguardless of your age.

To your question on copyright, it depends what country you live in. Copyright laws vary by country and you'd need to check your local laws. Pretty much anything you could buy(movies, cd's, ect) is copyrighted and you could get in trouble for d/loading them.

Movies that say teen blah blah are not teen. Actors are 18 years old and up. Same with all the sites with galleries, where some of the pics end up on Gnutella.

And Itsame. It's completely normal for a 17 year old to be interested in porn.

Teen and childporn are not the same thing. But laws prevent the pornindustry from using ANYONE under the age of 18. So as long as you only download commercial titles, there should be no problem.

I think we all know that most movies listed as teens are young looking actors 18 and older, but he didn't phrase his question that way. Though your probably right is assuming that he's a teen, if he's caught with underage porn on his computer, that type of thing follows you the rest of you life.

The authorities aren't looking for you. There's plenty of sicko's out there for them to worry about. If they arrested every teen that d/loaded porn, the schools would be empty ;).

To the under 18s in this thread

First of all, I would like to say that I don’t think that LW, or any P2P app, is an appropriate application for under 18s to use, and youngsters like "Itsame" highlights exactly the reasons I think LW is inappropriate.

Secondly, if "Itsame" got caught by his parents downloading pornography they will blame Limewire not their innocent little youngster whose mouth butter would not melt in.

And, of course, they would completely miss the point that LW does not have any download sites, pornographic or otherwise, and that users download from other PC users like themselves.

Itsame made a valid point that lots of under 18s use LW and I guess that those under 18s don’t really understand what they have got, thus the (naive) questions posed by Itsame (no offence intended).

However, saying all that, many adults don’t really understand what LW is about either, so we end up with irate users making ridiculous demands and threats. Once they are given an explanation of how LW and the gnutella network works, something that they should have found out for themselves, we never hear from them again.

And finally, I know we have youngsters on this forum that behave responsibly when using LW and exercise the necessary self restraint. But, I’m afraid, there will always be those that succumb to temptation and go looking for things they should leave alone.
