If you want to only have one antispyware app installed you should look into either AVG Anti-Spyware or Superantispyware. They are both free.

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Maybe also add Spywareblaster for extra coverage.

Normally I shy away from giving personal opinions, but if I had to choose btwn. Ad Aware & Spybot, I would lean towards Spybot because of the Tea-Timer Protection.

wondering why April 17th, 2007 10:21 PM

Use them all you can never be to safe....I use ad-aware, spybot search and destroy and avg, all of them pick up something the other one missed...:rolleyes_2:

Anti-Spyware apps.

All anti-spyware apps work from an internal, regularly updated, database of malware. And what most people have experienced, including myself, is that no one anti-spyware product has all the known spyware in it's database. That is why most people, again including myself, use more than one anti-spyware app.

Like Wondering Why, I use the same three anti-spyware apps so that if one product misses something then one of the other two will pick it up.

So consequently, you would be fooling yourself if you think that one anti-spyware product will cover everything, it most definately won't.

One other thing to remember, there are also a lot of free bogus anti-spyware out there that will either put spyware on your PC or find a lot of false positives and ask you to pay to remove them, either way be careful when choosing the anti-spyware apps you want to use.

thanks i guess i'll use both but what i was tryng to say was that since spysweeper is better than adware and spybot i figured it would find any spyware those programs would and thought i would only need 1 antispyware program:whistling:

Ad-Wear Mostly Works With Cookies And Web pages. It also Finds other Stuff.

Spy Bot Work's with other stuff that Really Slow's Your Computer Down. And Stuff That People make to Hack into Your Pc And Save's Ip's And stuff like that are Quit Annoying.

AvG Free Get's Mostly All Of the Nasty Worms And Virus's Out But not all of them.

The Only bad Thing About Downloading these off the web pages is that you have to keep updateing every other day for the reason is it will be come out of date.

I get These From http://www.download.com/

Unfortunately, you have to update your anti-spyware, anti-virus and on some occasions you have to update your firewall as well, this is the reality of todays internet.

Because what you have to remember is that there are miscreants out there, paid by criminals, modifying and creating new malware everyday so your protective software has to keep up with "this arms race" or become less than useless in a very short time.
