A LOAD OF GARBAGE TO ME BUT IF ANYONE CAN MAKE THIS OUT FOR ME I'D BE CHUFFED!

CHEERS

HYDEY

mickjapa108 April 23rd, 2007 10:38 AM

Hi Hydey.

Sounds like things have become jumbled.

Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-6u1-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
http://www.limewire.com/
If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others.
Peace

Maybe you have a Virus?

baby_48046 April 23rd, 2007 05:39 PM

Hi guys...

I have the same issue as Hydey, and I followed the instructions provided by Mickjapa, and I'm still having the original issue.

The 2nd step where you have to do a search for files, it wouldn't let me delete all the files. It kept giving me a message stating that the program is in use. Which I haven't been using the program, I've been trying to remove it since it wanted to start up on it's own all the time.

And per T4k73, I don't have a virus at all. The scan comes back with nothing found.

Any other help that anyone might be able to give?

Thx much :)

birdy April 23rd, 2007 06:21 PM

Hi baby_48046,

If LW was/is starting up all the time & refusing to stay closed, sounds like you have a worm.

Try the easy fix mentioned at the end of point 2 here, it's worked for a lot of people.
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of

Always make sure that you're using a good AV program. Keep it updated & use it to scan files that you've downloaded before you open them.

For stubborn files that won't delete, try one of the utilities in this thread. I've used Unlocker & DelinvFile & they're good;)

Its spring, Birdy has her mind on other things, (bless her)

Here's the link to unlocker

Hydey Hi.

Sounds like a virus or worm, AVG has a fix for this problem already, Download
& Update the program BEFORE scanning.
http://www.grisoft.com(good free AVG)

http://www.ewido.com(>>now called AVG Anti Spyware<< free 30 day trial -the best in my opinion)

Check your system using any of these programs (I reckon using all of them):
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/(free)

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/(free)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

I think Limewire/Frostwire are both frauds!

Nope I've given up with LimeWire/Frostwire they are both ripping me off! I get no downloads only once and awhile!:shoot: But hardly ever..I call them Lamewire as of now!..<b> So what I do now is go to Walmart and download MP3,s or someplace better then Coning companies like Limewire! Sorry but I paid them for Pro $18.88!..Lame..:nono:

mickjapa108 April 30th, 2007 09:12 AM

Hi Hydey.
You can try booting in safe mode and scan

Your computer will now Reboot!! AS it starts to fire up again,Hold down F8,on your Keyboard.
You should hear some little clicking, then the screen should go black with white lettering.
Use the Arrow keys, (Up) to highlight "Safe Mode"(mouse will not work).
Press Enter then Enter,Windows Login screen should come up, Click on your user nane.
A warning box comes up, You are entering safe mode, Click YES.
You are now in safe mode. Now Scan.
If that dont work.
go to one of the Free computer Help sites listed here, They really know what there doing. Register and post in there
forum, They will instruct you to D/L & run software that can be trusted,
