| Well, you are wrong, most viruses now are written by and/or commissioned by professional criminals and special interest groups, such as the RIAA.
For example, the virus that turned your husband's files into zip files is thought to have been commissioned by the RIAA to kill off the swapping of music files.
So, don't run away with the idea that viruses and worms are just written by kids for fun when in fact they are now produced with some sort of criminal financial gain firmly in mind.
