Help Moving music tracks between albums.

Does anyone know if and how this can be done. For example if I have 10 songs of the same artist from 6 different albums I would like to combine them even if it means the "album" data is no longer correct.

I have edited the track data but that did not move the tracks.

And now I can't remember how I got to the function that searched for the album names and allowed me to edit the track data?

You want to make a compilation CD? Is that what you're trying to do? Are all of these albums on your computer right now? As separate tracks?

Managing music files

Hi,

I have software I can use to make a compilation disc from my PC..

What I am concerned about is how I must organize tracks so that I can locate them and play them as a group on an IPOD (which I have not yet bought)(or in the Limeware or Windows Media player or Realplayer Libraries.

For example if I have 10 songs by the same artist from 4 different albums and I want to play them as a group. Or I have 10 tracks from West Side Story and I want to play only those tracks - in order.

Do they need to be in seperate windows Folders? What happens to Win Folders structure when you load to the IPOD?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

First of all, please remove the movie name from your post to comply with forum rules.

Second, what you need to do is create a playlist. In LW, select the songs you want and click "enqueue". Once all of the songs you want to include are in the playlist, select "save as". Name your file. Next time you want to listen to your "album", select "open", and choose the playlist.

I can't help you with the Ipod, but look for instructions for creating a playlist.

The music I have is on my computer sometimes as separate tracks from an album in a large folder along with other tracks, and sometimes within a folder tagged with the name of the artist. These folders were created with windows explorer. In addition Limewire has build a library with what I am assuming is albums which really contain pointers to tracks rather than existing as a physical seperate folder.

I can make a compilation cd with software I have. My question is if I copy all this music to an IPOD (or a disk based storage system for a hi-fi system) how do I select and play it? DO I NEED TO MOVE THE TRACKS TO A FILE FOLDER ORGANIZED AS I WANT IT? i.e. by artist, album etc.
