No wonder it being reffered to as LAMEWIRE in other circles

This whole platform is absolute CRAP!
I just did a general search for "*******"
Out of some 30 separate results returned (total of 662 'hits') not 1 of them is a legitimate file. Most of the results don't even list any of the search text in their titles.

WHAT A LOAD OF ****.

Are you asking for help, or just having a rant?

If you don't want help & don't like LW...don't use it.

Reid2211 June 12th, 2007 08:49 PM

Yes I was having a rant.
I do (did?) like Limewire, but l will not continue to use it if I have to filter through all of that rubbish everytime I want to search for something.

Azeureus is soooo much better.

birdy June 12th, 2007 09:01 PM

LW (or any other Gnutella client) can't be held responsible for fake files & crap being shared on the network.

It's peer-to-peer. How is LW supposed to control what's being shared? :p

If Azureus is working for you, that's great...keep using it. Why bother to post a rant here? If you're not using a Gnutella client, there's no reason for you to post here.

Peerless June 12th, 2007 09:56 PM

fyi...there are plenty of torrents that are fake also....

limewire pro has made limewire worse

I don't want to rant-have been using limewire for years for music with success, however, since I bought LW Pro it seems I have the same problem as Reid-I get 600 or 700 returns that have NOTHING to do with what I am searching for. I mean Nothing!:mad2: So why is this happening is what I want to know because I want to continue with LIMEWIRE but obviously if you go out and buy the Pro after being bugged to buy it everytime you sign on and then you get worse results what's going on??

Can anyone help me here? Also type in a movie and it always says the search is too specific-even if I type in one word I get back 300 videos-not related to what I am trying to find. How can I do an accurate search?

Thank you.

YO Dave, I would suggest filtering these file extensions to help clean up a ton of crap. Go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILTERS > KEYWORDS and add these to block. .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, .mov. After you add these to filter be sure to click apply and OK. If you decide later you don't want to block one or more of the extensions, you can go back and remove them from the filter. Try it youll like it.

Instructions don't work

Thanks for responding but when I follow your instructions and get to filters there is then no KEYWORDS to go to as you said. Also, I'm not sure if I was clear on what's happening that NEVER happened until I bought PRO. Now when I search I get hundreds of songs not even related to what I am searching for-and I don't think the file extensions are the culprit. Re: films-if you type in DVD Movie-you cannot search specific titles but get once again hundreds of pieces of you know what amongst some films. Really wish I had never bought PRO at this point-nothing but headaches.
If you can help I'd appreciate it but the last instructions ended in a deadend AND the file extensions weren't relevant .zip,.mov,.wma,etc to my problem.

What do you recommend Reid?

Remoc June 18th, 2007 04:43 PM

Hey yodave, sorry i didnt give the results you where looking for but I know for my self filtering the bad extensions out helps alot. I didnt say that it was going to fix your problem it was just a suggestion. Also and this is my opinion, upgrading to pro is not the root of all evil. Ive had pro for about 6 months and pro doesnt have anything to do with all the FAKE FILES that are out there. I also think there are alot more fakes now than there were just 2 or 3 months ago. You can thank the RIAA and others for that. I also dn/ld 8 movies this weekend and they were all great files so you may need to change the way you search and also filter the bad extensions.
