rookie help! (movies won't play in PS2)
 

Hi all, I'm new so forgive my ignorant ?'s!! And TIA for anyone who can help...
I am trying to burn some movies, and have downloaded two so far...but they won't play in my PlayStation 2 (this is my only dvd player!!), but they WILL play on my CPU.
I used Windows media player, and one movie is burned to a memorex 8x dvd+r and the other is on dvd+r 4x..My ps2 just says "please insert a ps2 disc" or something like that...
any suggestions?
Also, is there a simple explanation of what all the file types mean? Like the difference between .aiv, mpeg, etc, etc.?

My kids also like to watch movies on their ps2's, but I find that only one of them will do it and the other wont...
My son has a newer model (silver) and my daughter an older model (black) my daughters comes up with the same message as your getting..

When you do burn the disc make sure you burn in NTSC format as that is for the US...I burn mine in PAL as that is for Australia...

What program are you using to convert your files into dvd format ???
