The beta is where new ideas are tried out. Some of them may or may not work properly. The beta testers can report back to give their findings with new problems encountered with the beta version. After these bugs have been fixed, LW will then release it as an official release. Beta versions always start with an odd number. Sometimes betas have fixed a problem which the regular version have.
