I need help playing videos downloaded from limewiere. The majority of videos i have seen avalable for download are in avi format. Does anyone know of any program to convert them in to something windows media player or Zune media player can read? or possibly a program that can read .avi?

Try VLC player, it has codecs installed & can play most file types;)
VLC media player - Overview

If you want to use WMP & have XP, try this codec pack.
Download XP Codec Pack 2.0.8 - XP Codec Pack is one of the most complete codec pack

Or, if you're using Vista, this one.
Vista Codec Package v4.4.7 Beta 4a (freeware)

It won't open

I have Vista with Windows firewal (off) and 1014 Ram and a Pentium Dual core processor and 65% haRD drive left. After saving Vista codec pac that u suggested --I tried running it. I came up that it can not open due to compressed files

Vista Codec Package v5.0.5 is the latest stable version. ;) More direct to the download link is |MG| Vista Codec Package 5.05 Final. It is an exe file.

You may need to remove all previous versions & types of codecs before installing the above. Different versions or brands of codec packs can clash otherwise.

When you say compressed do you mean the codecs themselves or the videos?

Braveok December 21st, 2008 12:48 PM

AND WHO KNOWS WHAT THE PASSWORD IS TO NE OF THESE VIDS OR HOW TO OPEN THESE TORRENTS IF THEY'RE NOT IN avi,mp3,or the few file types that will even open for movie play off of Limewire?

There are some videos around that want you to download a particular codec, but it appears the codec is a virus. So beware of those. Found it: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...ck-videos.html Research suggests those files should be left alone. ;)

Using Bitzi is wise to check for user reports on them; How to use Bitzi Web Lookup. And this thread has some helpful tips Movie download issues (click on blue link) :)
