Of course, you can install any O/S on your new PC, which is your right, or you can ask the computer shop to install your copy of XP for you (may require a small fee).

If your new comp is with Vista (crap) pre-installed...
Depending on the 'age' of the Vista install you probably only need to run your XP Install CD...
There have been, as of my last experiences, none of the 'blocks' that exist with XP if, for example, you were to try to install Windows 2000 Pro...
With XP going 'back' to Win2k this is not possible without a full format of your HDD.

One warning that may apply to you is dependent on the age of your XP install CD...
And, whether or not your new PC has, in simple lingo, and 'old style' IDE HDD controller or SATA...

If you have an older version of XP Install - Service Pack versions are the problem here - you may get an error problem during install telling you that an SATA drive is not recognized... You'll want to first create a 1.44 Floppy with the SATA controller files that are almost certainly on your motherboard install CD...

Your what ???

Ah, the bums and crooks don't give us those anymore, do they ?

So, you may have to go on the net to the MB site and download the drivers for your new MBs SATA controller...

You'll see... IF this stuff applies to you...
Hopefully you have a later version of XP install and none of the above will apply or be a problem for you !!!

OH !!!!
Last !!!

If you have any of these probs mentioned above, you'll be able to learn 'deep' why we really still do need and want 1.44MB Floppy drives installed !!!

LOL

You will need CD burning software like Nero (v6.0 or 7.0)
