Default Limewire bit torrents (default torrent handler)

i use bitlord to download bit torrents and now that i've gotten the upgraded version of limewire pro, it opens up every time i try to download a torrent. except if i save the torrent link first then right click and tell it to open it up with bitlord. i've searched the options on limewire pro to try and find where i can change it from being the default client but i can't find it. any suggestions?

You change it in Windows, not LW.

You just need to go to the folder options for any folder and you can access the settings from there. Here's the long way around:

(This is for XP)Go to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Folder Options > File Types, in the window will be a list of file types, Scroll down the list till you find Torrent(TORR). Hi-lite it and go below the window where it says "Opens With" and click "Change". Find the program you want in the list. hi-lite it and click ok. That should be it. Try d/loading something and see if it works.

See if this helps. I copied it from another forum. Where did the "File Types" tab in Folder Options go? - TechNet Forums

Go to Control Panel and launch the Default Programs tool, then click the link for "Associate a file type or protocol with a program".

After you scroll and select a file type, click Change Program. In the Open With dialog, the recommended programs will be listed above the line and "other" programs below. This may initially be empty. But before you click Browse, try clicking the down caret button and it will populate with other programs that might include the one you're looking for.

Default Making Azureus default handler

I followed the instructions posted to change which program opens TORRENT files in Control Panel, but it won't let me apply the new setting. Restarted machine and torrents still want to opened by Limewire, which I have uninstalled.

Any other suggestions? Thank you.

You probably need to have admin privileges to change it. Are you using xp or vista?
