Official Limewire connection
 

We supposedly downloaded lw 4.14.10, but the search results are all 4 stars in the quality list and none have the security lock. btw i was able to dl some songs and our lw is still detecting a firewall which i did allow to be disabled.http://www.limewire.org/forum/images...s/confused.gif

That padlock notice you see at the top of your searches is to notify you of a particular search result that contains a virus...
It's a 75.7 KB .exe & shows up as "Urgent LW update - download & install now". If people download that thing they could end up infected. To try to prevent careless people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added to LW's interface.

The padlock symbol doesn't apply to music or video etc, only to LW updates...

Also if you downloaded Limewire from here, you will be OK. This is the official site.

Lost PRO when updated to 14.10
 

I was asked to update my limwire to Pro 14.10 and I did but I lost my PRO version did I do the wrong thing I also get that little lock on top that doesn't affect the downloads did I mess my computer up by updating the wrong thing plese help if possible I am gewtting no where with limewire since I can't get technical support becasue my pro is gone:mad::PEACE:

if you had your pro longer than 6 months you cant update after that unless you pay again your probly best not trying or you loose the pro and emailing wont work cause thay delete your email from there database after the 6 months is up.

Thanks for the reply That makes sense so I am back to the regular Limewire which is fine as long as it's not a virus as far as loosing PRO I got that in 6/2006 and was disappointed when I did to me it was a waste of $24.00 so as long as I don't have a visrus that is what I am concered about. How would I know if I did would it me obvious :eek: I was using LW at the being it is when it ask me to update should I remove it and download again if that is possible please help I'm not sure what to do at this point or shpould I do nothing and keep using the LW that I have now which is the 14.10 version not PRO thanks so much for your help:dance:

I'm at work doing this right now I have to wait until I get home to check it out, I think I did get it from there I don't remeber I know that I just lost PRO but all my songs and stuff are still there not sure if they would be gone or not if it was a real deal.

Also I read another one of your replies about PRO they should tell you about the six month thing but they do tell you you only have to pay once they just leave the other stuff out about you not being able to updte anything after six months Like I said I had LW since 6/2006 and this is the first update I have seen since then what a scam Again I will check when I get home is there anyway to tell other than if I got it from the right siter that it is no good if that is the case what should I do remove it and download the real thing or am I screwed and messed up my computer what do you think/ what would you do :idea: thanks again for your help this is big

if its from a scam site i personally would calmly uninstall it then go through my comp and delete all traces of LW run my spyware/adware scans then run my AV scan run ccleaner to get rid of any other crapp also open my AV and remove linewires permission like I said get rid of all traces then get it from the official site.

I checked the limwire and it looks good my macafee didn't say anything about it I have all the protection on my computer If this site was crap how would i know It looks good and all my stuff is still in tact

it probably good if everything's working I wouldn't worry about it the thing about these scam sites is that they will charge you for something that's normally free and then you don't know what they add to the program ether.
