Browse host IP question When I browse hosts, the tab at the top of the window will show the host's IP address. Some are regular IPs and port numbers as given out by ISPs (such as 12.34.x.x:1234), others shown are the IP assigned to a router (192.168.x.x). How can I make sure the IP shown when someone browses me is my router's? I'm not crazy about broadcasting the IP assigned by my ISP. |
when they actually start downloading a file from you your real IP address should be listed...short of using proxies there is no sort of anonymity.. |
$hit. I forgot about that. Time for me to look up proxies. Thanks for the info. |
You will not usually be able to direct connect to those with ip's of 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x However if you can browse them then you can of course download from them. |
I do understand that part. I was looking for a way for my IP as assigned by my ISP to not be displayed anywhere on the downloader's screen. To me, that's like a huge billboard screaming "here I am!". Of course, I disconnect and reconnect to get a new IP every time I start LW, so it's never the same IP twice, but still it gives me the creeps that it's plainly visible. |
