What is an"avi" file and why won't it play on my media player?

avi files are safe but you cant play then in windows media player try this player it plays avi and more click this link VLC media player - Overview

You can play them with WMP, you just need the codecs....

For XP this codec pac is very good
Download XP Codec Pack 2.0.8 - XP Codec Pack is one of the most complete codec pack

Or for Vista this pac

I wonder about avi files too. Where are they coming from. Sometimes its the only one that comes up. I'll wait until someone gets it figured out. Also, what about youtube videos. Can they be played and burned? I'm mostly looking for old stuff.

Hey, does anyone know where I can download an flv converter for free? I have already tried Videora, Freez, and a lot of other ones, but I can't find one that is 100% free. I need one to convert the files to wmv. Plz help!!!


P.S. 'echo87', you should download RealPlayer (the free version). It allows you to download a video from any website. The gud thing is that it is truely 100% free. There are no registration questions or any stuff like that. The only problem is that it downloads the videos as .flv files and you have to wait 'til the video is fully buffered. Which is okay and all, but I want to sync them to my mp3 player. That's why I posted this...

VLC is the best player in my opinion, but having the codec pac is also a good thing to have...
