I Need Help!! eveything that I DOWNLOAD its like it is hallow or like its in a tunnel

I have been using limewire for almost a year now and had great results, but until recently eveything that I DOWNLOAD its like it is hallow or like its in a tunnel.........what is going on. I've checked my sound config and everything there is ok......any suggestions. Can anyone help me are not?
