![]() I'm an old guy who has only one phone and a dialup connection (I'm really in no big hurry). Anyhow the FAQ about uploads says something about keeping limewire on the task bar so others can complete their download. Don't I have to also maintain an internet connection?? If limewire is on the task bar with internet connection, will New uploads start? I seem to remember (senior moment here) there was something you could do to stop new uploads. The reason I'm asking this is I want to make a phone call and not mess up others. TYVM!! |

![]() Yep, LW will have to be connected if uploads are going to continue. What you can do is set your LW to shut down after transfers...that way, once the uploads in progress are done, LW will close ![]() In LW go tools > options > system tray > tick 'shutdown after transfers' > apply > ok. Don't worry too much - if you have to make a phone call & shut LW down before an upload's finished, the person can either finish their download from another source or they can wait until you're back online. It's great that you care about other peoples' downloads but if you have dialup then sometimes your phone call is more important than LW! Don't feel bad if you have to disconnect! I don't know if you've seen this thread below, but it's a good guide for how to get the most out of LW with a dialup connection. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/175733-post5.html |

![]() TYVM In my waking hours the "shutdown after transfers" occurred to me. This unfortunately brings up the question, if LimeWire is connected, but only on the task bar can NEW uploads start? My small collection of oldies (400) seems to draw quite a few hits. The "speed test" mentioned (for dialup) would not run something about could not run, enter zip code, I did and it said it couldn't find a connection here?? I checked for typoes etc, no success. Also kbps / 8 = kbs is gonna keep me awake tonight. Kilo BYTES Per Second into Kilo BITS Per Second I'm guessing. I never have seen the term kbps before. For the record, I really greatly admire and respect this operation. Retired Computer Professional (69) |
