How to download & burn movies?? Can somebody walk me step by step on what format of files to download movies and how to burn them? Thanks! |
Hi Lacy, I would suggest using the Forum Search Function as this has been covered a multitude of times. I'll give you some quick answers. IMO AVI Files are the best to download. Always use Bitzi when downloading Video Files. Instructions below. This is how it works. After you have completed your search, Right click on the file that you're interested in. Now go to Advanced > Lookup File With Bitzi. Left click on that and a new browser window will open which is Bitzi. Now you will see how other members have rated this file. If you see something like "Bitprint not found" then Leave it alone. Its probably a Fake or Corrupt File. If it has been Rated then you can read what or how the members feel about the file. You will need Converting and Burning Software. Something like Nero. After downloading the AVI you will now have to convert the AVI to DVD Format. After Converting you can now Burn to Disc. Hope this Helps. :D |
Okay now another question... How do I get Nero? |
These software programs are usually not FREE but may have a Free Trial to try before you buy. I don't use Nero so I'm assuming you could Google Nero. I use AVS Media which works beautifully for me. Also Not Free. |
I have downloaded SEVERAL .mpg files. Is there any way I can convert them into .avi files? |
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish here. If you want to convert MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 to DVD Format, This will do it. Video Converter: convert video & dvd with AVS Video Tools!. Not sure why you want to convert tha mpg Files to AVI. You don't have to do that extra step. I know AVS, and I'm sure Nero will do the same. These converting programs will convert many different file types. This leads me to believe you have done absolutly NO Research on this subject. These programs and just the basic process will require you to put forth a little effort and research. WE will not waste our time if your not willing to help your self. |
Each time you convert a video file, it loses quality. Keep that in mind. ;) For a start, the original video will have been perhaps 150 GB compressed into DVD mpeg 2 format VOB files. Then the person who obtained the DVD with video size at about 7-7.5 GB then converts it using a format of their choice such as mpeg 1, 2 or 4, divx, etc. and the size will probably be around 700 MB, though they may have split it into two 700 MB files. So you can see that the original size has dropped to less than 0.5% of original video size. That is a LOT of throwing out of video information. This example is standard video. The widescreen video is even larger and a greater loss of quality when shrunk down. Most video formats are "lossy" in that they throw away information to help save and as a result reduce in size. All mpeg and divx formats are lossy. Even re-saving at max quality is going to lose 'some' information/quality due to the way the format saves. |
Well I attempted to download a trial version of Nero...but it didn't work. I HAVE done research but apparantley not everybody is as smart as somebody that stays on the computer 24/7. So sorry. Anyhow--I GREATLY appreciate the advice and all the NICE people that helped me... |
