Please help - Very slow downloads of torrents - Why ?

I've been downloading a torrent with limewire basic for 14hours non-stop. For the last 5 hours it has said connecting(100 hosts tried), i have connections to ultrapeers.

My firewall allows limewire, im with AOL in uk, AVG 7.5 is my only av, 1gb ram, 60gb free hdd and ive already downloaded 587 files, so it works. uTorrent sucks, bittorrent sucks and im losing my temper with this computer. :bangh: It might soon go for flying lessons out of my window.

I would appreciate any help please.

Ultrapeers have zero to do with BitTorrent, and even if you claim uTorrent sucks, I would recommend using it for torrents instead of Limewire. Limewire does not show the necessary info to tell what is wrong, uTorrent does.

There can e.g. be no more seeds on the torrent. Your ISP might be blocking Limewire or torrents certain times of day. Limewire can be getting banned for not respecting tracker scrape times etc.

BTW if you hate uTorrent so much then use Azureus. It's in my opinion even better than uTorrent.

Hiya...

As Sleepless say, don't use LimeWire for Torrents.

uTorrent is good.

It sounds to me, if you are having these minimal bandwidth results with BOTH LW and uTorrent, that you have a problem with your ISP...

AOL in the UK is the definition of sucks !
(Not that AOL is alone in that department !)

Have a look at this >

I fear that this response may pi$$ you off, but that's not the intention.
But, I mean, if you are experiencing poor 'performance' with more than one application than you have to look for problems outside of those apps, hmmm ?

I figured it out. I hadn't got a clue how a torrent worked. I was just downloading without a faintest idea about anything. I read a couple of pages about what a torrent was. I just needed to get some reseeds e.c.t. Now downloading at 50kbps, which i think is good? Im just a total dumba$$.

Thanks anyway. You guys are brilliant.

It's true, aol sucks. Only 1 and a half months contract left then im changing isp.

Lol.
I will check out samknows b4 I choose another isp. I think i might use Azureus for my torrents but keep utorrent as well. Never know if or when i might need it. Now, time to finally download what ive been waiting for....

P.s
Thanks guys. You really know your stuff.:aweof:
