What happened to all my files

Hi folks. I'm new here so please be patient with me.
A while back I clicked on the prompt which kept telling me a new version of LimeWire was available (4.16.6). When I finally downloaded and installed I discovered that all my previously downloaded files were gone. I do have them in RealPlayer but can't figure out how to transfer them back to my LimeWire library. So I have 2 questions:
1. What happened to my files?
2. How can I get them back into LimeWire so that I can share them with other users?
