Default audio won't play, but video will

I have xp, limewire 4.18. My songs and videos download properly. When I play videos, everything plays fine through limewire mediaplayer. My songs will not play. They go to the playlist and nothing happens. I've tried to refresh, launch, and enqueue. None of my audio files will share according to the shared files number at the bottom left panel. Only videos. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do? I don't want to uninstall and reinstall because two weeks ago everything was fine. I downloaded an urgent update that popped up. This may be the problem but I don't know how to fix it. My kids have their own accounts and I don't want to destroy their saved material. Please help me. EMAIL=***

What are the extensions of the audio files?

For fast & easy access, go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) & the folder will open up for you.

Turn on show hidden extensions in options & see if their extension really is audio.

I don't know what the audio extensions are. I don't know how to determine this. I tried the explore and it didn't work. Let me know how to determine the audio extensions.
