Close to the same time I started using LimeWire, I noticed a mysterious java console starts up. Apparently, there is a program now running that periodically sends information to a company named Red Sheriff. Red Sheriff identifies itself as a marketing information gathering company. This, of course, is unwelcomed.
Is this a coincidence, or is LimeWire the culprit? Does anyone one know how to permanently terminated this program? An automatic reply from Red Sheriff instructs me to modify my host's file. Unacceptable. |
