![]() (windows xp pro; limewire 4.18; cable internet connection) Hello everyone I am concerned with getting into troubles for sharing. Can the parties sharing files with Limewire be identified in any way an tracked? Are their IP addresses available to each other or to others? Can anybody snoop my activities in the network and identify me? thank you |

![]() Well, the connection isn't completely anonymous. No personal information is put out, the only thing open to the internet through limewire is your IP. Which anyone you are downloading from, or uploading to can see. So, for the most part, it is 99% anonymous. ![]() |

![]() arris112 You should have left this two year old plus thread alone because your answer, about 99% anonymity, is totally wrong. If the authorities get your IP address, which you admit is visible, then they can trace your ISP and, through your ISP, you. How do you think the RIAA (and the MPIAA) catch file sharers? Just remember that ISPs, in both Europe and America, have to keep a log of their users activities so that they can be inspected as and when the authorities (and those organisations with police-like powers) want to do so. Internet anonymity is a myth. UK Bob |
