Can't Play MP3 Downloads

I can't play a number of mp3 files that I have downloaded. When I click on the file, a website: "http://www.fastmp3player.com/affiliates/772465/2/?embedded=false" opens that wants me to download something called Play_MP3.exe.

I was going to download and install this but my virus checker said it contained a virus. What is this and why is it embedded in the files?

This has happened a number of times. Is there a way to play the MP3's without this embedded player?

Yikes! Do not install anything that arrives that way.

There are unsavory people who continue to try to infect your computer for all of the usual reasons. And there are also those who are especially interested in defeating p-p networks. Hence, shared files will sometimes contain trojans, bogus data, or the file might be simply mis-named. That is why we recommend using Bitzi to help verify files before downloading. You should read the Getting Started Using LimeWire threads to learn the simple way to do this. You may also find other useful tips there.

Applepckr...

I was raised on a farm with 400 hectares of apples...
(400 dairy cows as well !), so try to trust me, eh ?

Your computer is infected with a Trojan/virus.

p.s. I should be dead 100 times over for the number of times I played 'fort' inside... I mean tunneling deep INSIDE... stacks of 10s of 1,000s of wooden apple crates (for picking time) !

Only thing more stupid was 'forts' tunneled into the hay bales with 20-30 tons of straw above you and no help except for the rats and rattlesnakes that were there first ! (Good thing we lack detailed imagination when we are young !)

Well, actually, more stupid is downloading and clicking on ANY link or url or file that is not first scanned !!!!!!! Sounds pedantic, but I didn't make the internet the dangerous way it is today ! Trust absolutely nothing on the net. Scan and vett everything, FIRST.

You are going to need to do something about the fact that your machine is infected. You will probably get loads of info on how to 'fix' this...
Most of it will be incorrect and misguided or just simply ancient as in way out of date.... Anything... I mean ANYTHING that you see that pretends to help but wants money up-front... Hey, ANY money at all, ever... Blow it out... It's a lie and a scam and won't help you.
