This is what I have done so far...I did a system recovery in safe mode and didn't lose any of my data...Created a restore because it restarts fine now. I went to microsoft updates to get SP 2 and can't find it instead they have SP 3. What do I do now?

I also updated Norton (which I hate with a passion).

install SP3...that will contain everything SP2 has plus more..and of course let windoze install the other updates that are newer than SP3....I've had no issues running SP3 on this machine at all...can't say that I've seen the purported increase in performance, but no issues...

Me again...I've restored my computer to factory mode in safe mode so I didn't lose any data. Now I am trying to download SP3 and microsoft keeps trying to force me to download Windows Installer 3.1. The last time I did my computer wouldn't restart...It hangs up. How do I get around this? Please help!!!!

welp...you're gonna have to download the installer as SP3 won't load without it....I guess you could try and ferret out SP2 first and then do the installer (which is probably what you need to do)...
