struggling like hell to transfer music from LW to ITunes

I have spent 3 hours, read every thread, and tried every technique to take music newly downloaded to Limewire and import.transfer into my Itunes. I just get an error message that says:

The shared libarby "Mikes Limewire Tunes" is not compatible with this version of itunes.

Please help. I hear how great Limewire is and am going nuts trying to make this work. I have tried to drag and drop. Make playlist and save as m3u, import into itunes, add file into tunes.

You go to the audio tab, and search for what you want. It's simple. But next time, please make your own thread.

can't put LM music into ITUNES

I have Itunes 7.7.1.11 (the latest version updated only a few days ago). The furst two Limewire songs I downloaded were MP3/MPEG Layer 3 Audio. Not sure if this is a newer type of audio that needs to be converted or what, but I tried everything I could find on these forums and nothing would work!!?????

Any suggestions. THX in advance.

In the link I put in my post, it says iTunes 7.7 has a problem with LimeWire. You should downgrade until it gets fixed. MPEG layer 3 audio is just an mp3 file.

sorry to bug you again.

Maybe a dumb question, but, how do I downgrade my itunes,

and to what level do I need to downgrade?

are there any problems/negative side effects to downgrading?

It's not a dumb question. ;)

To downgrade, you have to uninstall the iTunes you have on your computer right now. Then go to FileHippo, and get version 7.5 or 7.6. And from what I have seen, there are no side effects to downgrading. I have done it before. All your music should remain in tact.

Set your itunes to automatically save played songs. Then once you download a song go into your limewire folder right click on the song and choose open in itunes. Presto it plays in itunes and saves it into your library.
