limewire(dot)com homepage

for some reason,i cannot get onto limewire's home page or download page,i just get directed to a wiki.limewire.org:
Main Page - LimeWire
also under the limewire logo where the limewire version is supposed to show, all i can see is the word version then it's blank.
this has been happening for quite a while now.

whether using ie7,firefox or safari,i cant access limewire's website (it's not even showing using limewire's browser neither).

any ideas?
thanks.

I'm guessing you are a mac user if using Safari? Sounds like your browser or browser/system security is blocking the site. PeerGuardian might be doing such if you have it.

Official page is http://www.limewire.com/download/

If I knew which OS you were using for sure, might have been able to make other suggestions.

thanks for replying.
i'm using windows xp sp3 - safari browser is available for windows.
i tried all 3 browers and none will connect to limewire-i just get directed to wiki limewire in IE7,firefox shows 'Failed to Connect. The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.limewire.com. Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
safari shows 'Safari can’t open the page “http://www.limewire.com/” because it could not connect to the server “www.limewire.com”.'

i do have peer guardian-but even with it disabled/exited i cant connect.likewise for HostsMan.
even temporarily exiting zone alarm firewall aswell,i cant connect either.
i've not altered any other settings on my computer and the last paid version of limewire i was able to download was limewire pro 4.17.3.
so what's happened since then i dont know.

Hey Mike, Have you tried to access the home page While in LW ?? Upper Right Corner. Click on Lime Icon.

While in the Wicki Page, try clicking on Download. That should take you here.

even clicking download on the wiki page it says:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
  • Most likely causes:
    • You are not connected to the Internet.
    • The website is encountering problems.
    • There might be a typing error in the address.
saying i'm NOT connected to the internet is ridiculous.

Sounds like Something is Blocking LW's IP. Are you having trouble Accessing Any other Sites ??

I think Some Security Programs See P2P Sites and Programs as being Malicious or Malware. Might Check everything that your running, just in case. Otherwise I don't know.

Good Luck. :PEACE:

i found this in peer guardian under the P2P list:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...008_125929.jpg
but even trying allow for 15 minutes didn't help.
exiting peer guardian didn't work either.

Hey Mike, I find the Same Ip Range in PG2 and No Problems Here.

Any Luck Yet ?? Have you checked your Security Programs ??

This may seem like a Far Fetched Question, but you never know, Could it be your ISP ?? Who is your ISP ??

Lord of the Rings November 19th, 2008 11:08 PM

Do you have another account on the computer, possibly see if the problem is account related.

the only securitiy programs i have are these:
zonealarm free firewall
avg free
peer guardian
hostsman

UPDATE:
i uninstalled peer guardian and hostsman, restarted computer and still couldn't connect.
reinstalled them both, tried again and it connected.
very confusing indeed.

when i installed hostsman,it asked something about a DNS cache which i ok'd.
maybe it was something to do with that-i don't know.
but at least i can now access the download page.

thanks for everyone's input.appeciated.
