LW & virus
 

I would like to try LW Basic but some of my friends who had it a got virus on their computer. Very costly repairs too. Pretty much had to get a new computer. Maybe they went through a different program to get, I'm not sure. But can you get a virus from going on and downloading songs on LW basic(the free one)?

Downloading, from virtually anywhere, is in itself a risky business. There are things that one can do to minimize the risks, such as using LW's link to Bitzi, and following other tips offered here. It's like driving a car. Sure, thousands are killed each year in collisions, but we find it worth the risk, and try to maintain good driving habits.

There is no difference in security features between the Basic and Pro versions of LW.

Most important - make sure that you're using a good AV (antivirus) program. Keep it updated & scan all files that you download with your AV, before you open them.
