Full connection, no results, no downloads...

Ok, so Limewire says I have full connection, no firewall blocking it, Ive turned off anything that would interfere with it, and tried everything.
Yet, no search results, all previous downloads stalled, and no uploads.
Any ideas? Please?
Thank you in advance :)

Sounds like your ISP interfering. Who's your ISP?

I was here weeks ago and have tried several times uninstalling and reinstalling limewire since I won my computer (which worked perfectly fine on the old one)...and the firewall is fine, everything is fine...except the copywrite pops up, every single song, on every single one...that has never happened before. What am I doing wrong? I just want to be able to listen to my music....etc.

I forgot to add, would it have anything to do with the fact that I have wireless internet and therefore a wireless router?

Im on AOL, but Ive already used limewire once on this computer. Its just throwing a strop. =/

Oh my Gosh, it managed to download one song! The rest are still stalled, but well, progress, yay.

You use CARPHONE WAREHOUSE BROADBAND SERVICES which handles AOL in certain parts of the UK. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...-problems.html So unfortunately that particular service started blocking/shaping p2p use last year. :( That's the sacrifice for using AOL, you never know exactly which ISP you are really going through. If you wish to change ISP, I'd highly recommend doing research to find those that are not p2p unfriendly as many ISPs in UK now are owned by multinational companies who have expanded into the UK (they still retain their older business name). An example of such a multinational company (anti p2p sharing) is Tiscali.

I can't switch, just signed a new contract with them :(
Is it possible that if I shout at them they'd let me download?

Lord of the Rings February 9th, 2009 09:43 AM

I have no idea who the parent company of Carphone warehouse is, if indeed they have one, but this is obviously a new policy they brought in last year. This problem has affected many others. It's worth shouting at them! But I doubt they will change.

Dunno last time I shouted at them I got a cheaper contract and a cheap router
:) My shouting usually works.

Yes wireless routers have these things to note:
(1) NAT safeguard protection. This behaves like a firewall. It blocks out ports that are not set to be allowed. Nowadays most routers have UPnP built in which allows a UPnP capable program to send a request to the router to open a port for that session. However, not all implementations of UPnP are well designed. The answer in that case would be port forwarding. We'd need to know your router brand And model to help if you wished assistance setting this up.
(2) Wireless routers' bandwidth tends to rise & fall being inconsistent. Wireless routers are more subceptible to interference. They tend to be able to handle less traffic inquiries also, which can sometimes result in them losing connection altogether with some models.
