Greetings.
I have a Windows client who wants to use P2P to download music, how secure is LimeWire 5.0 basic against rootkits and the like? Thanks, T. |

Limewire (Basic or Pro) has no built-in protection against, er, anything!
Your client needs to exercise caution and use protective software. Most of the problems that result from bad downloads are just that - a bad copy, wrong song, won't play, or an attempt to get you to install another player. Some help here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...uld-aware.html http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...h-results.html http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...note-them.html It looks more complicated than it is. |

Blackhorse: Thanks, quite right, I don't know what I was thinking... Perhaps a wrapper of sorts, anyway, thanks for your damn. ;^)

As long as they know how to avoid the spam then it should be ok. If they are a non-experienced user, then it is risky. They need to learn which are the good & bad files & how to recognise them.
![]() Having a full kit of security programs with up to date definitions is recommended. Scan each file after downloading.
