LimewirePro and Itunes

I cannot get my downloads to open in Itunes. I have been reading all the suggestions given regarding this problem, but nothing seems to work. I never had this problem with previous Limewire but since purchasing PRO have had nothing but problems. On another topic, I sent some tunes that I did have in ITunes to the recycling bin by mistake, I restored them but now I can't find them, they didn't go back to Itunes. Moya:bangh:

Check the post here for some info: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/340125-post4.html

Do the files play with LW's player or any other player? Try playing the files with VLC player... it's free & has codecs installed to play most file types. There's a link for download within this thread: CODECs list for Movies/Audio/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers

If VLC won't play the files then chances are they're bogus... see the first link I posted for more info.

Use your computer's search to look for some of the file names. Once you've found where the files are located, you can add them to iTunes by opening the folder & dragging & dropping into iTunes, or use iTunes' File > add file to library > browse for the location & go from there.
There's more info about adding to iTunes here: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)

I have tried everything. I do not have any tunes in Itunes, all there is is "Shared Limewire". I can download songs no problem but there doesn't seem much point when they won't go into Itunes so I can put them on my ipod. Moya:confused:

Providing that the songs are in a format that iTunes supports - they should transfer to iTunes.

It makes it really hard for us to help when we're not given any info - we don't even know which version of LW you're using. Or which version of iTunes.

The 'shared LW tunes' is just a playlist. Those songs haven't been added to the iTunes library. It's just so that people can play their LW downoads through iTunes, if they want to. That playlist only shows when LW is open. And you can't transfer files from that playlist onto an iPod.

What happens when you go (in iTunes) File > Add file to library. Then browse your computer to find LW's saved folder & add songs from there?

In iTunes have you tried File>Library>Consolidate Library? It will search for music files and add them to iTunes Library.

Also, again in iTunes - Edit>Preferences>Advanced. Make sure that "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organised" and "Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" are both ticked.

Below these make sure that "Use iTunes as the default player for audio files" is ticked, then click OK.

Just one note about the "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organised" option. It will rename files adding a prefix 01, 02, etc. to each song filename.

Although I haven't used it in ages, Consolidate used to move any files across to iTunes Music Library that were previously only added as playlists. However I am not so sure this applies to the LW playlist.

Sorry, meant to say where are your limewire files saved. It may be that iTunes was only sharing them rather than adding to its library.

Where are your (Limewire) downloads saved?

Tools>Preferences>Download. What's the path/folder?

Look in this folder with Windows Explorer to see if files are present.

If they are and you have made iTunes default audio programme, try double clicking one to see if it opens in iTunes.
