Browsing question Limewire 4.18

When I search, I believe I've filtered out most of the junk because the results I'm trying to browse are fairly detailed. But, I can almost never browse the real-looking file user.

And, then when I can browse, its some huge data-bank like an ultrapeer or something, but it isn't a single user. I've had so many versions, I don't remember which one was so easy, I used to click and browse, it was no big deal.

I've had the same problem with all the newer versions which is why I keep going backwards. thanks for any help

Browse Host has never been perfect. In LW 4 or in LW 5.
If you can't browse a host with LW 4, try in a few minutes & you might find that you can browse successfully.

I'm not sure how LW deals with a file with multiple hosts - whether it browses the host with the first file found or what. But you can only browse one host at a time.

An ultrapeer isn't a databank - just a person with a fast connection who isn't firewalled & is capable of handling lots of search traffic.

There were many 4.18 versions - you didn't say which version you're using.

When browsing a host, you can also use the 'Get/Find More Results' option after the initial browse. Sometimes browse host might show zero files sometimes 50 for example, but a rebrowse or get more results might come up with showing more results from that specific host. That's how inaccurate browse host can be sometimes.
Browse host with LW 4 it supposedly selects the host at random from multiple hosts having same file in search result. With LW 5 you can select which host to browse.

one more question please

Thanks, I guess ultrapeer was the wrong word. What I mean is when browsing a specific file or user, it comes up with 3, 5, 4 etc in the # column just like an original search. Like its another server or something. oh well

Another question if you can: I know Limewire doesn't like people downloading old versions, and I know some of them are suspicious and I always scan for cooties, but is there a place to download official old versions? I know old apps & old versions, but I don't know if they're official or have been tampered with in some other way. thanks
