Bug with client, bug with pong server, or somthing else?

I didn't really know what to do with this one, I have my Limwire open and running for 10 - 15 minutes with only 82 K files and 223 GB of data available. So I go to my connections window figuring something is wrong with how many connections to keep up and bam some 100 connections are being kept, most using the "Leaf" protocol. I have never seen this protocal being used (just ultrapeer and 0.4). Is this a hiccup with my client, a problem with the overcrowded pong servers, or some wierd server out there making gnutella do strange things? I tried recreating the problem and it does not happen, i was seriously worried it was an attack on the Gnutella network! I have a screenshot but no convienient server to load it to, other than my iDisk. You have to know how to get to it but it is in fsterman's public foder. If you don't know what an iDisk is (try poking around at www.apple.com) and can't get acess to it I will try to get this on the web sometime tomarrow. I opened the apple menu to get that transperency, wich is harder to fake to try to legitamize it to the cynics of the world, although it should be noted i am good with Photoshop.
