Downloads - all stay @ 'waiting......'
 

i'm on lw 5.5.8. my incomplete tracks in the d/load list say 'waiting' or simply list a competion %-tage, followed by 'waiting'.

cannot highlight and attempt a 'resume search' or 'try again' because none of the incompletes get to the 'stalled' stage from where i can attempt efforts to 'try again'.

also, new downloads do not load to completion or at least partially before stalling out = status simply goes to 'waiting', as if that download was in line behind a # of others.

haven't changed any settings, but a coupla weeks ago, i was asked a bunch of questions upon lw bootup. am wondering if i might have (accidentally) clicked on something that prohibits my downloads to do just exactly that...........??? Thanx! Dave

Might be worth deleting your LW preferences folder; Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included 2nd last post of page.) But make sure you back up the Downloads.dat file as mentioned in that post. ;)

a bunch of time has passed since my original post. during that time, i was able to figure out solution. :idea:

but while i have you: i've been on lm for quite awhile. this 5.5.8 version is quite abit dif fm previous ones. i do have a coupla dif inquireies about 5.5.8.

1) after a search, i'm able to browse shared files (for those who share. i'm sad to see, more do not share than has historically been the case). how come i've yet been able to browse files fm peers 'uploading' fm me? ne'er found a one that did.

2) i've been unsuccessful in signing on the 'live jounal' option, which i assume is a lw chat room....????? at first, i thought i got in o.k., but soon after found that to be false. after countless tries thereafter, i'm wondering if i did get in but might have screwed up my 'user name' and 'password' by forgetting it. i get the 'invalid' sign in msg. :mad2:

further clicking on 'choose another account', i thought i could re-establish a new log in. i don't see an option to do that. is there any other way i can get into that chat thing? :blink:

i'd appreciate any help that you can provide. thanx. dave

1. Browse host has never been reliable. Sometimes it seems to show a result of a browse but actually did not find all their files. This has been a problem since LW 4, some browses would show zero files, or a repeat search of them 10 mins later might show 500 and one 10 mins later 200 files. So browse host has never been a reliable test of whether people are sharing or not, unfortunately. Browsing uploaders has always been harder for some reason then those you are downloading from or in search results. I have had successes with it but very hit n miss.
