I'm new...help!

I'm new to this. I want to know how to download music and burn a cd. I downloaded Bearshare...now what? Am I stupid or is there a trick to this? HELP...

follow what he said up there to download the files you want.( songs or mp3's or whatever)

In order to burn cd's you need an application(software) that will convert mp3 files into wav files. mp3 files are compressed format of Wav files. And most of cd players will not recognize the mp3 format.

go here to find the mp3towav converters. they are also called mp3 decoders. these will convert mp3's into wav's format. whereas the mp3 Encoders will convert the wav files into mp3's.

normally you will decode the mp3's into wav and then burn the wav files onto a cd. these cd's should be playable in most of new cd players.

most common cd-burn programs can burn audio cd's from mp3 files. actually, i do not know of any that can't. important is the format you choose to burn, not the format of the data from which to burn. the data on a audio cd is NOT in .wav format. if you burn a iso9669 (or is it 6996?) cd with wav files on it, a common cd player won't be able to read it.

anyway: if you have something like winoncd, just chose "audio cd" or "audio", then drag the mp3's you want into the box at the bottom or chose from the file tree above.

the cd files actually have *.cda extension.

i didn't realize the cd burner softwares will decode mp3 files into cda files.

i have been decoding my mp3's into wav's then burning them onto cd's.

perhaps the burner software is changin wav's into cda?

at any rate, this method works.

It doesn't work for me! I am using the software that comes with my burner... Don't remember the name off the top of my head... DirectCD or something like that...

DirectCD is the packet-writing software which allows you to save and load files from CD-RW using Windows Explorer.

I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02 and it works fine!

If I need a standalone decoder, I use either CDex (which is my ripper/encoder) or Winamp's DiskWriter Plug-In (the player that "Really whips the Llama's ***"!)


CDA files are PCM-format waves (the standard format)...

yeah same here. i have been using the easy cd creator just like the other guy.

it seems to work with both mp3 files and wav files.
