I'm nor a BS user, due to Mac addiction but I gather BS have sold out to the RIAA and you need an older version. I think that thread explains it all. Aaron Walkhouse will tell you more if you need:)

I found lite here http://www.filehippo.com/download_bearshare_lite/ but I would not recommend using the new BS's. BS Lite 5.2 link still works but ... Use the link OAH left instead. ;)

Yes it was. But filehippo can be trusted. The BearShare Lite 5.2.5 link works. I presume that is still 5.2.5 but as suggested, you're better off with the one from AaronWalkhouse's thread. From memory anything from 5.2 or above is not worthwhile & can be controlled.
