Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Donīt use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Mowgren,

Although BearShare is a useful tool, having to deal with Vinnie's idiotic nonsense makes it more trouble than its worth. Since BearShare and Vinnie are inextricably linked, the best way to mitigate Vinnie's counterproductive crap is to use a different Gnutella client.

Just look at the forums for the other clients. There the dialog is devoid of the bitterness and flame wars which waste so much time and energy in BearShare forums.

I noticed that your have your own site at BearShare.de, a great contribution to the Gnutella community. Why not put a section on your site to help BearShare users transition to a Vinnie/spyware free Gnutella client? I'm sure there are a lot of users out there who would appreciate such a resource. Perhaps even post some reviews of different clients, if you have the time?

Thanks for all you have done to promote Gnutella and help the community!

Yes that is exatly what I have done!

I swithed the client! And I stoped the support in the bearshare forum here and on bearshare.de...

We had supported the people deleting the ads... you cannot compare bearshare.net and bearshare.de... because there are differrents side admis!

And I waste my time only to proove that I am not the bad guy!

For Vinnie it is easy he moves the threads, or delete them as he wants... tell his wolves that I am troll and...

but I am telling the truth, Vinnie started the flame war... on this site here... and now he wants respect on his site? Where is his respect?

A good bearsharer is only who use all ads and shut up? Please donīt tell us your opinion... please donīt tell us some negative? If you do you will be kicked?

Hey I supported bearshare for 8 months... without any critic or something else... than I tested some other progs... they all had features we are waiting for so long in bearshare... and the most progs are without spyware... adn I started to tell my opinion about this... yes my personal opinion - Vinnie donīt want to hear it and started the flames against me... and I am only a human and I flamed back last week... and now I am troll? Now I am a traitor? Because I told my opinion?

No I wasted 8 months in supporting bearshare...

And I will defend "my name"... I am no liar... I never was... and I donīt want that Vinnie and his trolls write such ctrap against me!

The bearshare user should know the truth... they should know both opinions... and than they can see who is the liar...

Funny that the most people belive me... so who is the idiot?

I have nothing to loose... Vinnie has to loose a company!

So I would think about dropping all this, if Vinnie apologizes in public for his flames against me! But I think this he will never do...

As I said the wasted time was my support for bearshare and not the last days...

Morgwen

P.S.:

The review think is a good idea! I started something like this on bearshare.de, perhaps I should proceed here...

Default You know..

I havent had a good agrugment for a long time, even though im not really agruging yet. I support MS by buying the product and i do send back feedback along with errors. if i could mod, develope, or test for MS i surly would. maybe one day i will.

I would go check out BS.DE but i dont know german .
You talk of spy ware/ and ads i dont know where the ad thing came from. But i only installed onflow once[after it was non forced} to test an uninstall program one of the programmers made. i never liked the 3rd party products my self. they have alot of bugs with many systems. so i dont install them.

About censorship... there is very little. I havent edited more then 2 post in the last 2 weeks. I do check post to see who has messed with them. and the text feild is usally blank. But me not editing post leads for flame wars. i often wanted to shut down the public fourms because its to hard to desicide weather or not to edit post.

Many of people talk of other clients in bearshare. I talk with other users and review clients. usally it is limewire.

Try using a translator, such as world.altavista.com or www.translate.ru.

With the forums, you will need to enter the URL (http://www.bear-share.de/cgi-bin/bea...ultimatebb.cgi) directly into the translator. For some reason, the forums are not translated when the "Forums" link on the homepage is selected.

Sometimes the time the text is quite understandable, but often the translation is less than perfect. Even so, since the translation is into the viewer's preferred language, he or she can usually get some idea of what is being said.

Mowgren, maybe you could put the translator links on the bearshare.de home page?

I find bearshare.de to be very useful. The forums are useful, without the detrimental bitterness and animosity found in the Gnutellium and bearshare.net.

Becker!

Do heard something about "save now" or new.net? And now there is a new ad, too (donīt remember the name!). This tools are known as spyware! We called them so on bearshare.de, too... but for Vinnie this is a rumour... I saw some threads in the forum false rumours!

About censorship... its hard to decide sometimes... I wonder why the poll was closed??? I donīt know if Vinnie or Threadmaster closed it... but I wonder why, after only three days! And Vinnie said that he deleted offensive threads in the earlier days of bearshare... he is censoring...

I wonder why no message appears, when a post was edited with the name who has edited the post! You cannot edit a post without here and on bearshare.de - and I think this is good so, because the people should now that the post has been edited and the reason why! I saw at least two edited posts on bearshare.net without a statement...

One of them was a post from Kutulus... in this he called pripla a moron... in the bearshare labs forum... you know what happened as I flamed there - Vinnie started the poll against me... and his post was only edited without a message why... not moved into the brawl forum like my posts - I wonder why? Perhaps I am not Kutulus??? Becker I think the same rules for "all" members or I call it censorship...

When I speak about censorship... I think not you are censoring posts... but I a know Vinnie does...
