bearshare pro missing from computer - Using Vista

A friend of mine installed bearshare pro 5.2.1 on his computer. It worked fine for 2 days. Then he said it had disappeared from his computer, no trace of it anywhere. Has anyone heard of this before?

When you say "disappeared", what exactly do you mean ?

Are the Desktop Icons gone ?

When you look in Program Files is there no Bearshare folder ?

What kind of copy of BearShare Pro was it... i.e. was it an old real copy from Freepeers or something that has been recently downloaded ?

And, as usual, please supply all the basic info on your comp system.

Sorry for not explaining it a little clearer. He told me that his desktop icon was gone. He went to program files and looked for the bearshare folder and it was gone. He checked the recyle bin and it was not there either.
It was an old copy of bearshare that he had on xp for several months. He installed it on his new laptop that has vista. He said it worked good for the 2 days it was on there. And suddenly it was gone.

sounds like you either got it from a scam site or downloaded a virus funny things happen when you accidentally DL a virus just a suggestion.

I cannot really help you re: Vista... For the simple reason that I refuse to have any more to do with it except to advise people on the best ways to remove it.
I have seen other examples of older applications being installed (with difficulties) in Vista... Then, poof they are gone...

btw... I am going to move this thread to the BearShare forums.

Please look for the threads and posts in the BS forums for info on downloading and installing the last clean BearShare beta... I am sure your friend will like it... Assuming Darth Vista allows him to do so !

Screw Vista

Yes, he said he had quite a bit of trouble installing it on bearshare. Guess that must be the problem because it worked good on xp.
Thanks for your help.

Well, not so sure I have helped you yet !!! ???

Anyway, here is the link for finding the last best BearShare beta... it should last a long time and has certain most desirable features that were never available in even the Pro versions...
