Can't connect to the Gnutella Network

Hi,

I'm using Bearshare Lite 5.2.5, and since a week ago i can't connect to the gnutella networks... I closed my firewall, i closed my internet security, and it wont connect anymore...

Is the Gnutella Network down?

I downloaded, Kazaa, and Limewire and they have also the same problem...

Who got this problem to?

Thanks

Did you install anything recently , e.g firewall or antivirus app ?
Have you tried Phex or Shareaza ?

Note: The real Shareaza is from sourceforge site ,
not the shareaza.com

Download this zip and unpack it into C:\Program Files\BearShare.db\
http://www3.telus.net/Aaron_Walkhouse/connect.zip
This should jumpstart your Bear with fresh nodes to connect to.

Same problem

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with BS Lite 525. I've reinstalled a few times but it won't connect. I tried unzipping the connect file to the db folder but this also didn't seem to help. I still just get the "can't connect" box up. My only firewall is the XP one and BS is an exception. Any ideas? Very appreciative for any help.

Regards

Nick

What does it say when you hover (without clicking) the mouse pointer over the fourth light?

Nick227 April 21st, 2009 10:33 AM

It says "Network - Not Connected." I'm now running BS 5.1.0b25, started by Bear Start, as recommended, but I still can't get it to connect. Thanks for your help.

Bearshare must be closed when copying connect.txt to bearshare\db folder.

BS 5.1.0 b25 can be forced to ultrapeer mode .
Click on Setup->Service , click 'Force Ultrapeer'.
Only do this if you've fast pc and internet connection.

i did this and it worked, but sometimes i get the same error message (like today)... and i had to close and reopen bslite 5.2.5.1 a couple of times before successfully connecting. is there a problem with gnutella servers? unlike before i immediately get connected when i open bslite.. im using vista extreme edition 32bit..

just sharing... if anyone has an answer i would appreciate it...

thanks in advance

Your best option is to stop shutting it down so often. When you stay online permanently
it always has a full list of thousands of good nodes to connect with. People will also be
able to find your shared files much more easily when you become a reliable source
instead of one that's always vanishing before or even during their downloads.

Closing it and reopening it doesn't help at all, though you might get that illusion. You can
disconnect and reconnect without shutting it down if you enable the Hosts view and use
the controls in there.

If you're willing to change your system date to July 2005 when you start it, the beta
version
is a good choice because you can switch it into ultrapeer mode whenever you
have connection problems. In that mode it connects to 26 peers instead of 2 and it will
always connect to about ten LimeWire peers alongside a bunch of .Bears
