BS has taken over my computer, and FIREFOX - NO HELP from BS Customer Service!

Hello - I have been using BS for a couple years, and have loved it....until now.
I'm running version 7.1.0.60502

Everything was fine, until about a week ago - when my homepage in Firefox somehow got changed to the bearshare search page. I didn't install anything new to warrant this change - it just happened on it's own. So, I changed my homepage back to yahoo - and after a computer reboot, the homepage is back to Bearshare Search!!
Also, the appearance of Firefox has changed a bit - the buttons are weird looking, etc. Again, I have NOT changed anything to warrant this!
Also, the computer is slowing down a bit - weird.

anyway, does anybody have any experience with this or similar problems with bearshare? I'm threatening to cancel my BS account - and uninstall the program for good - if I can't figure this out.

Any help would greatly be appreciated! thanks in advance!!

You have a fake. Uninstall it.
Here's the old faithful version.
Sticky: BearShare has been sabotaged.

Fake? Not sure how that happened, as I downloaded it directly from Bearshare.com

I guess I'll try an older version - as I only temporarily fixed the problem. I uninstalled BS - and manually deleted anything bearshare on my PC. Reinstalling BS (version 7) worked fine.......only for a couple days.
Now, my Firefox homepage has been changed (without my prompting) to search.bearshare.com

Very frustrating - and the bozo's over at Bearshare don't seem to know what could be causing this (or are just playing dumb).

They are playing dumb. All they want is your money so that's all they provide help for.
The original BearShare company, Free Peers, was sued out of existence and the new
owners are closely associated with the RIAA. They also put out a fake iMesh clone
and a fake version of Shareaza. These two, along with the fake BearShare, are actually
the same program with different names.
