trouble with package installer

I've recently made the switch to Ubuntu Linux and love it, except for the fact that I can't seem to get Limewire or Frostwire to work. Everytime I download the file and try to run the package installer, I get the following message:

Only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time
Please close the other application e.g. 'Update Manager', 'aptitude', or 'Synaptic' first.

I'm not even aware of having any other management programs running. Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

i have the same exact issue and i am wondering if you have found a solution yet!?!?
