Here's my cat/circus monkey Edgar. Edgar thinks he's either a dog, monkey or human, but definitely not a cat. I have had about 10 cats in my life but none of them will come to me every time like this little guy does. He comes to the call of his name, knows his name and comes when he's called. He's alert when I call out another name but will not approach. Has set the record for any cat I've had climbing trees (half way up a 65 ft. evergreen), climbs an 8 foot tall wide braid rope I have hung to a roof eave (straight up) and rings a bell at the top. Thinks he's handsome (keeps staring in the mirror) and does actually pose for pictures. This little fella follows me to the kitchen every morning when I get up to make my tea and rolls on his back on top of my feet and meows at me.

He's beautiful. How young is he? He sounds very active. I like his white socks and the cute mismatch white upper lip/cheek on one side and the grey on the other. It sort of adds artistic style.

Yes, he is in the category of superactive. He just turned 2 last week. He was born in a fence. The other side of the same fence you see in the picture, between two 4 x 4's. His mom had just wandered into the yard about a month before. We have no idea where any of these cats came from but they evidently love this place. Here is his baby picture at aprx. 4 months old. Edgar likes climbing straight up anything, jumping long distances, he doesn't really care about how he falls or what he falls on.

If I hit a rubber golf ball up high enough he will jump up and catch it. The b line shots he can't catch he will run and follow them. If they go into a hedge or someplace I can't see, he will stay there and point his nose to it so I can find it.

Did he get a present?
Ever since my kids were small, we've bought a present for our dogs. Charlie turned 3 recently & got a squeaky hotdog

Oh yes all the time on every occasion, he is spoiled. A Sisal rope toy dipped in slivervine. (better than catnip).

I've been away for a month, sorry. That is a beautiful picture you posted. A very young looking Edgar. I had not previously heard of Silvervine. Sounds appealing for cats. I introduced cat grass to a young (indoor only) cat recently and it ate most of it. Catnip it chewed a little. Cat mint it seemed interested in as well. Although the cat is indoor, it has a specially built access to a sectioned off part of the house deck so it can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
On that topic, a friend has built something more elaborate so the two cats can access under the house, climb through a tunnel (covered in chicken wire) that climbs above a shed, past a swimming pool and ends in a sectioned off part of the garden with fruit trees, catnip, cat grass and cat nip. Lots of ability to climb. Birds do not have access to that section of garden. |
