Does anyone actually use this?

I have had nothing but problems trying to get this working properly. After finally getting it installed it wouldn't connect to anyone. And it crashes after only a minute or two. I only see this app mentioned in forums and newgroups and only when someone is complaining that it does not work. I even tried compiling the new version from source to see if that solves the problem. Not only does it not fix the problem but now most of the icons on the menubar no longer function. Is there something I am doing wrong? is there some magic option that will fix all of this? does anyone actually succeed in using this?

Actually its not that the icons no longer work, its that they no longer exist.

Is there perhaps a "hide toolbar" option that is defaulted to unselected in the new version?

I don't know as I don't have this installed yet..

the icons are probably a bitmap file and supplied in a different folder and are some how linked at run time
the real problem is that it got worse, now you have to go into the code and fix it, what fun!
you finally have to give back to the community

This thread had no activity from March '04 to March '08.
Twenty-six months later it is again resurrected.

I don't think you would benefit from my opinion.

Hmmm... is this client still active? Does it still have users? Development status?

File_Girl71 July 13th, 2010 12:52 PM

No....The project is dead and buried! The main site for Qtella is offline and removed. For download of the Qtella it self they have put a robot.txt for blocking enny one from download Qtella and use it. Last relase was Qtella 0.70 in 2004.

Lord of the Rings July 13th, 2010 03:35 PM

Is the program now blocked by other gnutella clients? Certainly does look like development stopped upon it.

The program files are able to be downloaded from SourceForge site Qtella - P2P Gnutella Linux/Unix File Sharing Client . / or . Qtella | Download Qtella software for free at SourceForge.net

I don't think other Gnutella program block out Qtella! But i know Qtella has some connection issue, or it is too old...If i don't remember it wrong it use some sort of Host file, and i do not know it is up to date so to speak! I can connect all the Gnutella program i use easy, but i was not sucessfull to make Qtella connect at all.... It would be great to have a working Host file for Qtella users, if some still use it! I only see on Gnutella network gtk Gnutella which is similar to Qtella!I think Qtella users have mostly moved on to gtk Gnutella for Linux/Unix OS these day's...

OldDeath July 14th, 2010 06:01 AM

if the last release was in 2004, Qutella might be still using the plain 0.4 standard, which would evidently make it very hard to connect for the application...

File_Girl71 August 10th, 2010 10:16 AM

I think it's use plain 0.4 standard or even older...I have no connection problem with older Gnutella clients, but this one won't connect no matter what i do to make it connect to Gnutella network. So it's a wast to even try to use it, thats for sure!

OldDeath September 2nd, 2010 04:54 AM

BTW, where does the name of this application come from? Has it been written using the Qt environment?
