would appreciate any input.new to this stuff

im new to the world of folisharing have tried 3 services so far kazaais ok but not very much content.winmx is impossible to get any files from allways like 1000 in quee ahead of you xolox is by far the best ive found ............but..............a few questions the most vexing by far is downloading a file and it is not even close to being what the file says it will be!! is there a way to get those type of people or files fixed as to where others are not misled??? some of them are just commercial BS that when you try to close them they pop up like hell to porn sites.......if i wanted to go there i would.and some are bs about advertising for a bs product called evidence eliminator........nothing even remotely what you think you are getting.........that has happened to me on both video and audio downloads.the second question is it possible if you have a partial download to "preview" it to see if it is even worth trying to resume at a later time?????? any answers or suggestions would be really appreciated:)

your Best bet to get what you want is to download one of the songs your searching for that has a higher Score (score=how many people have the same song)

the score is your friend unless you know what you want.

another hint is to look at the file sizes... if your trying to get a zip file and its small in size, be weary unless you know that the zip is something small. some programs and other things are huge but bogus files usually arent.

My answer Spuds.... we can always delete the files. The people, on the other hand, may end up re-producing! :D

I did request a stick to beat those who push the bogus files.LOL.

Seriously though, avoid files with words like "setup" in them. They are garbage you do not want on your computer. Also be cautious of small files like BPMax and Xoloxian stated. jpeg, gif, and txt file are the only ones that are normally small. Most other types of files are rather large in size if they are legit. Even still watch out for some of them too (usually porn files) have redirect programs in them.
Another thing to watch out for is mislabeled files. Most files you get are titled correctly or close enough to know that is what you want. However sometimes people have files which are mislabeled either accidently or on purpose. If you get one of these few files just delete it.
Also check your downloads from time to time when downloading to make sure that you did not get a "bogus" file. If you did then you can ditch it then istead of later when it might cause an embarrassing situtation for you.(i.e. opening a a file that has porn infront of your kids)

My thoughts exactly. We think along the same lines Ironman ;) Consider your next beer bought by me ;)

Just keep watch of the file size of your search. The average minimum size of a song is around 1.5 megabytes and that would be about a 1 minute song. The way I even it out is for each meg, thats how long the song will be. If its 5megs its probably 5 mins long. Its wrong I know but its a good way to figure out the fake names vs the true songs. If the file is under 500k, unless it is what you're looking for, do NOT download it please!!! These !!blahblah files are definately ones to avoid and through my research seem to involve some sort of program. I have done some test searching with dummy names and no matter what I type in, even if I type in the word 'dummy', it'll eventually show up !!dummy.asf or something similar. Avoid these at all costs, its obviously some program or something designed to mess your computer up. Its reminiscent of a few Unix programs I've come across during my MUDding years.

It echos my earlier post that Xolox might consider an ebay approach extending on the score issue and using it as more of a User reliability score. I know it would be tough to program probably impossible, and may even rely on user registration so I don't expect it to be on the top list of ideas but as far as allowing for download reliability it would be fantastic, allowing users to download a file, not by score but by user reliability, bet I'd be high on the list ;) After you'd download a file you could give a thumbs up to who you downloaded from. I don't expect it to be considered, its more of a dream, but I'm truly tired of trying to download something and it being a complete waste of time, especially if it took days to download, and turns out to be an advert and website jump for the bangbus. If you know what I'm talking about laugh ->here<-. It would discourage the fakers and encourage the true heroes. Do you have any idea how long I've been trying to catch a glimps of Undercover Brother without it being a fake?!?! ;) Then again I do live in the "south" (are there any brothers out there who can help a white boy out?! :) )

I should thank those who have the audio and video files that jump you to a website because I've succesfully added them all to my AdsGone program which kills the site jump each time ;)

Does anyone, including Team X have any suggestions? I'm just an idea man ;) Hey, if I ever win the lottery I promise Team X a portion of it, you guys rock, if it weren't for your hard work I'd never share anything. =)

LOL! The bangbus number one offender of the bogus file people followed by first time gay(the site that faked me out beliving it was a barney the dinosaur file). Watch out for anything from either of these two or any other odd file. If it don't look right then avoid it. You If you want some good files then ask for some host list from others. Some are posted in other sections of the XoloX forums. They are full of good files from people who are willing to share them. Mine might take awhile because I am using dial-up until the cable company gets their upgrade for the cable connection finished.   But you can get my list from here and see if it has anything you want. I have removed all of the "file bombs" that I could find so far.
