big bad porno

There I was downloading happily, when I noticed that xolox had added "preview". Brill I thought I'll watch a bit. The video I was downloading was - poofy the vampire slayer- graham nortons hilarious spoof of buffy with the delicious anthony stuart head...was this what I got .....NOOOOO
I got some stupid message about being over 18 and then to add the the annoyance pop up ads advertising porno sites on the web. This as they usually do crashed my pc and I had to reboot,
so to the stupid prat who uploaded this why don't you put what you are actually offering... I am sure there are some saddo creeps out there who would want it and it would save wasting my time and effort.
Is there maybe a forum or way to blacklist liars?

There is no real blacklisting yet because blacklisting requires a central server which Gnutella doesnt give since it is decentralised p2p.

There were some thoughts about implementing blacklisting into GWebcaches but they havent been implemented yet.

You might check out Kazaa 2 which indeed has a feature to rate files.

These files (known as ad bombs) have been a problem for a while. Most of them are labled as porn in the fist place, but not all of them. There are a few servers out there that will pretend to have a file exactly matching your search, and send you an ad bomb.

One thing you could do is to add those IPs which provide you with fake files to the ignorelist of the client.

antihedron October 9th, 2002 09:00 AM

I was actually working on that...

I had to dig up the IPs...

194.213.194.37
194.228.211.204
194.237.72.231
66.250.52.45

There could be more or the IPs might have changed.
Many individual hosts have on or two porn bombs (too stupid to delete them...)

How do you find out the IP's? Can it be done in Xolox, or is it from firewall logs?

antihedron November 3rd, 2002 10:29 AM

I did not get these IPs from Xolox, as Xolox does not give IPs. However, it is easy to find IPs when you use a program that does return IPs. Just find computers that are returning scripted fiel names repeatedly.

I have a nice little list of ip's that account for around 95% of this crap:

66.28.0.0 - 66.28.255.255
66.250.0.0 - 66.250.255.255
194.213.194.37
194.228.211.204
