Truth in Advertising
Xolox says "XoloX does not trick its users into installing anything they don't want. "
I was sorely disappointed to discover over thirty changes to my computer after installing ver. 1.57. A few of these were cookies but most were new entries or changes in my registry. A shortcut was placed on my desktop for an on-line casino. I realize that advertising revenue is necessary but the ads (including pop-ups) are utterly distracting and irritating. I would certainly never buy anything from your advertisers. Too bad. Xolox arguably has the potential to be a truly excellent piece of software. I fear it will never realize it's potential in it's present form. |
I had wondered about that, because they do advertise that no unwanted stuff was installed--but at the same time it uses ads as a revinue source.
I rarely see Xolox come up that often on the network actually, I was tempted to install it myelf under wine (I run linux so I can't just install it regularly) just to see what its like. |
